This year’s challenge is a basic one! It will be 31 days long and on each of those ,days, you will have the same challenge tasks/habits to complete. You do not have to do them all! Pick the ones that speak to you and leave the rest.
In previous years, we have stacked habits and built upon themed weeks, but we are going into this year knowing that many of you have completed those challenge formats with us before and we want to challenge you to be consistent with the same habits for the entirety of the 31 days.
We are making the daily tasks somewhat flexible so you can meet yourself right where you are. We want to challenge ourselves but not create a situation that is so hard that at the end of the 31 days, we throw in the towel completely. This challenge, as with previous years, is meant to build and create habits that you can take with you into the New Year and beyond.
There is a master habits tracker to use for the duration of the challenge. Print this out and hang it on your fridge! You can write in any or all of our recommended daily tasks and add one or two of your own if you are feeling motivated to do so! You will mark each day you complete each task.
If you miss a day on any particular task, that’s ok – just get back to it the next day. If any of the tasks are simply not feasible for you right now, that’s also ok. Just mark them out and focus on the other ones each week.
Not being able to complete every single task on every single day does not disqualify you from this challenge. There is still a lot to be gained. We believe in the All-or-Something approach, not the All-or-Nothing approach.
Do your best with what you can and stay flexible in your approach as you move through the next 4 weeks. As always, focus on effort // outcome.

There will be a daily at-home/light equipment workout shared on the Tactic Fitness App but if you are looking for something more structured and effective, we are able to offer support through Tactic Fitness or 1:1 programming. Our fitness program is designed for all abilities and includes several levels of fitness programming, from a basic foundations program where you will learn movements while doing simple workouts, all the way up to our daily fitness, build, and hyrox programming which combines strength and aerobic modalities to create an effective and progressive functional fitness program. And of course, our smash hit program - TOTS which stands for “tight on time series” which condenses down our daily workout into a short but potent daily program to get you in and out of the gym in a ji y! If you aren’t sure what to do for workouts during this challenge, this is a great place to start! You will also get access to our member’s only Facebook page for additional support from our coaches and your fellow Tactic Fitness Members.

before you start…
Think about WHY you are committing to this 31 day challenge.
What are you looking to get from it?
What are you looking to learn about yourself?
31 days can feel like a long time to do the same things every day, but by building some routines and rituals into your days, you can start to learn about what things serve you, what things don’t serve you, and what tendencies you have when stress and emotions start to challenge your commitments.
Things will come up. There will be days where you don’t want to do some or all of the daily tasks. What will you do then? Will you fall into old patterns or will you lean into a new way of doing things?
Maybe your goals are to improve your eating and exercise habits across these 4 weeks.
Maybe your goals are to learn how to appreciate yourself and those around you.
Or maybe you don’t have a specific goal or know exactly why you are doing this. That’s ok too, we hope that in your practice, you will discover more about yourself and your values.
Have fun with this and remember there is no one right way to build new habits, there is the way that works best for you and you do not have to be perfect!
important documents and links
All daily content related to the challenge (workouts, habits, journal prompts, blogs, and videos) can be found on the tactic fitness app. You can use the app to view and record your habits challenge progress! You will be able to record a score or log a completion for each habit, each day. More of a pen and paper person? Take advantage of our printable habits tracker and your favourite journal!
Do you sometimes struggle to get back on track if you miss a day or two? Perhaps you’ve been described as a “perfectionist?” This worksheet is a handy tool for breaking down and addressing the All or Nothing fallacy as it shows up in your life. It’s a handy companion to any health, fitness, or process related endeavour!
Print off this habits tracker, grab your favourite markers or crayons (or steal them from your kid), hang this bad boy on your fridge, and experience the satisfaction of colouring in each of those little squares for 31 days!
Ok so this isn’t directly related to the habits challenge, but is an incredible article written by Scott Barry Kaufman on finding meaning and gratefulness during the inevitable struggles we all face. It changed the way I think about gratitude and hardship.
